Terms of Service

These Terms are the agreement between you and Xiaoyang Wang (Aspen Labs) for using Pado. They are short on purpose — please read them.

Effective September 3, 2026 · Operated by Xiaoyang Wang (Aspen Labs)

1. The agreement

By creating an account or using Pado — the website at www.pado.pet, the iOS app (“Pado Pet”), the Mac app, or our API — you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Pado.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. If you invite other people into a household, you are responsible for who you invite.

2. What Pado is — and isn’t

Pado is a notebook for the cat at home: a shared care log, records and reminders, and Paw, an AI assistant that answers questions using that notebook.

Pado is not a veterinary service. Paw does not examine your cat, does not diagnose or treat, and does not tell you which medication to give or how much. Paw’s replies are general information generated by a language model from what you share; they can be incomplete or wrong. Decisions about your cat’s health belong to you and a licensed veterinarian. If your cat may be in danger, contact a veterinarian or an emergency clinic immediately — don’t wait for a chat.

3. Your account

  • Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your password and devices secure; everything done through your account is your responsibility. Tell us at support@pado.pet if you think someone else has used it.
  • One account per person. Don’t share accounts — invite people into your household instead.
  • You can sign in with a password, an email link, or Google. We may need to verify your email address before some features work.

4. Households and sharing

A household is a group of people caring for the same cats. Owners can invite members and set their roles; caregivers can log and edit; viewers can only look. Whoever you invite can see everything in that household, so invite only people you trust.

Share links (cat cards, sitter care sheets, Paw summaries) can be opened by anyone who has the link until it expires or you turn it off. You are responsible for who you send them to.

If you delete your account while other people are still in a household you own, the household passes to another member and keeps going without you.

5. Your content

Everything you add to Pado — records, notes, photos, documents, questions — stays yours. You give us permission to store, process, display, and share it only as needed to run Pado for you and your household (for example, sending a question and relevant records to our AI provider, or showing a share link to someone you sent it to). That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups, which are cleared on a routine schedule.

Don’t upload anything you don’t have the right to share, anything illegal, or other people’s personal information without their consent. We can remove content that breaks these Terms.

6. Paw and AI features

  • Paw is for the cats you care for. It is not for questions about human health, and not a substitute for a veterinarian, a behaviorist, or poison control.
  • Paw may be wrong. Check anything important with a professional before acting on it, especially anything about medications and doses.
  • Paw’s answers are generated by a third-party model provider from your message, your photos, and relevant records about your cat, as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • We may limit how often Paw can be used (the free plan includes a monthly number of conversations; emergency red-flag checks are never limited), and we may change those limits.
  • Don’t try to make Paw produce harmful content, pass itself off as a veterinarian, or bypass its safety rules.

7. Acceptable use

Please don’t:

  • Break the law, or use Pado to harm animals or people.
  • Access other people’s accounts or households without permission, or probe, overload, or interfere with our systems.
  • Scrape Pado, use it through automated tools we haven’t approved, or resell it.
  • Reverse-engineer the apps, except where the law allows it.
  • Upload malware, spam, or content that harasses or deceives others.

We can suspend or close accounts that do these things.

8. Plans, payments, and changes

Pado is free to use today. We may offer paid plans (such as “Pado Plus”) in the future. If you buy a plan in the iOS app, Apple bills you through your Apple ID and Apple’s terms and refund rules apply; if you buy on the web, a payment processor (such as Stripe) bills you, and we never see your full card number. Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel, which you can do at any time through the platform you bought them on; cancelling stops the next renewal but does not refund the current period unless the law or the platform’s rules say otherwise.

Pado is a young product. We may add, change, or remove features, change limits, and adjust prices. We will give you reasonable notice of changes that matter, and if we ever shut Pado down we will give you time to export your data.

9. Ending things

You can delete your account at any time from Me → Delete account on www.pado.pet. We can suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if keeping your account would expose us or others to harm. Sections 10 to 13 continue to apply after your account ends.

10. Disclaimers

Pado is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we make no warranties — express or implied — about Pado, including that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that Paw’s answers will be accurate or fit for a particular purpose. Pado is not medical or veterinary advice.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Xiaoyang Wang (Aspen Labs) and the people who work on Pado are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of Pado. Our total liability for any claim related to Pado is limited to the greater of USD 50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

12. If you use the iOS app

The iOS app is licensed, not sold, to you for use on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store terms. These Terms are between you and Xiaoyang Wang (Aspen Labs), not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app and is not responsible for any claims about it (including product-liability, consumer-protection, or intellectual-property claims), which we handle. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm that you are not located in a country under a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited parties.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If we have a dispute, let’s talk first: email support@pado.pet and we will try to resolve it informally within 30 days. Otherwise, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing here limits any consumer rights you have under the law where you live.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Pado evolves. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. For significant changes we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect; continuing to use Pado after that means you accept the new Terms.

15. Other terms

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Pado. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce something right away, we haven’t given it up. You may not transfer these Terms to someone else; we may transfer them as part of a merger or acquisition.
